It’s only right to begin with a holiday shout out—so Merry Christmas to all you Christmas’s, and Happy Hanukkah to all you Hanukkah’s. It’s been a week now since our last post…sorry to keep you in the dark like that. Since your (obviously) starving for another leftos update, we’ll do our best here to wet your appetite.
First, Our Progress:
We’re now in week 6 of development. During this phase, we’ve focused most of our efforts on 2 particular areas: Programming, and Design. Back in September we set out to hire a programmer to build our website. About a month later we found the right candidate for the job and made the hire. For the past 6 weeks, he’s been busy programming all the features that you’ll see when we launch. Read the rest of this entry »
Our last post was a big one for us. We received a lot of great feedback and positive reinforcement about the concept. On a project kept so quiet, its really great to finally hear the opinions of other people. It’s a welcomed fresh perspective, and one that you sometimes lose in paying such careful attention to the details–so thank you.
In our last entry, we mentioned that it would be “the first of two posts..”. Well this is the second. We figured we would get a few questions from readers, so in this post we’ll answer a few of the good ones.
Questions
How do you plan on keeping the site clean and informational?
This is a very common question that we receive. Because our Alpha version is a private release and limited to a smaller number of users, we ‘ll be able to monitor most of the content ourselves. Sometimes this isn’t enough though, so we’ve put into place a flagging system, so our users can notify us of any content they feel is inappropriate. As a last resort, we’ll terminate a users account if the misconduct continues.
How do you plan on keeping Leftos Anonymous?
On Leftos, your real name doesn’t matter–only your opinions do. So in our sign up process, we ask Read the rest of this entry »
This is the first of two posts that we have been building up to for a while. First we told you our name, then our logo, and then what Leftos stood for. Now its time for the good stuff, what Leftos.com actually is. Here’s a quick snapshot:
Leftos.com is a user generated site designed to break down the communication barriers that have always existed between men and women. Leftos is a resource, similar to Wikipedia, where you can learn all about male and female interaction from the perspective of both sexes. Its reinforced by certain social networking features, which allow users to connect and share advice on a personal level. It allows people to say what they’ve always wanted, find out about something they never could, or get an answer to a question they never felt comfortable asking. Leftos is also anonymous, so users can participate openly without the fear of embarrassment or judgement. Whether your single, dating, in a relationship, married, or divorced, you can benefit from Leftos. Men have always complained “I’ll never understand women” and women complain “I’ll never understand men”. At the root of nearly every conflict between a male and female lies one consistency: a lack of communication. Leftos.com aims to change all that, by giving men and women an insight into the minds of the opposite sex. Read the rest of this entry »
First off, thanks to everyone who has shown some interest in our business, our blog, and helping out in general. We had a great response to our last blog post and especially want to thank all of you who posted comments. We had fun reading your guesses and remarks, a couple of which were actually very close to being correct. So I won’t beat around the bush any longer–you came to the blog today to find out what it means. So here it is, Leftos stands for:

So that’s what it means, now what is it? Check back in a few days for our next blog post, where we’ll be answering that question.
Progress: Its the end of week 4 and we’ve finished building our feed (ahead of schedule!). Next week we’ll begin work on building out the user profiles and a few other social networking features we have planned.
Oh yea, and before I go, one more thing. A lot of you have already signed up for Leftos Alpha, which we want to thank you for. We do wanna clarify one thing however. We put up a simple sign up page at Leftos.com. This sign up is the same as the one here on our blog, therefore if you’ve already signed up on the blog, you don’t have to do it again there.
We’ve touched on it in our last couple posts, so with out further ado–Our logo:

Like we said before, we kept it simple, but this little logo actually does a fairly good job of summarizing our concept. Our symbol should give you a good hint as to what subject matter we’re focused on.
Today marks the beginning of week 4 of our development. This week we’ll start work on our feed system which aggregates content from throughout leftos.com and organizes it on your homepage. More to come on this guy in the future.
Our next post will answer a big question; one that many of you have had since we started this blog. “What does Leftos mean?”. The correct question though, is “What does Leftos stand for?”, being that Leftos is an acronym. Le.F.T.O.S.
If you want to venture a guess, write it in the comments section after this post. We’d love to hear it. Thats all from us for today, we’ll be posting again sometime in the next couple days, so check back or sign up for our RSS feed.
P.S.- we are NOT a dating site.
